Ambala An overview of the cantonment:
Ambala Cantonment better known as the Ambala Cant. is an extended province of Haryana. It comes within the district of Ambala itself, bordering Punjab and Chandigarh. Politically Ambala has two sub parts, Ambala city and the Ambala Cant both being controlled by the same authorities. The places are known as twin cities as they are similar of names and also lies just in a gap of three Km. The place is having a huge base of the Indian army and that is why it is known as the Cantonment. The name Ambala is available from the holy goddess in the region. However there are sectors in the region which says that the name is derived from the name of Amba Rajput.  The British took over the Ambala region in 1843 when there was a malarial epidemic in the saphera region. Ambala today is major base station of the Indian army. The city is having Kurukshetra and Panipat as its neighbors. The former is famous for the great war of principles; the latter is also famous for the war between Ibrahim Lodhi and Babur, which has marked the gateway of the Mughals in India.

The prominent places to visit in Ambala:
Badshahi Bag Gurudwara: The bag is a famous historical shrine of the Sikhs. The Sikhs generally passing by the region do pay up a visit in the local Badshahi Bag Gurudwara.
