Introduction about Amritsar
Amritsar is one of the famous holy cities of India. Millions of people from different parts of the world visit this city to take blessings of Baba Sahib. Besides this, Amritsar is considered as the spiritual centre for Sikh people. This city is 217km away from Chandigarh the capital city of Punjab. The Harmandir Sahib (golden temple) is very popular throughout world. Besides this, Amritsar golden temple manages to attract more visitors when the same is compared to the visitors at Taj Mahal, Agra.

Places to visit in Amritsar:
Baba Bakala: This is located 45km away from Amritsar Punjab. Guru Bhadur Ji had revealed himself as a devotee to Makhan Shah labana here. Some thousands of Sikhs gather here on every moonless night (amavasya). An annual fair is also held here on every Raksha Bandhan day.
Baba Rai tower: History says that Guru Har Govind died in this place. This is one of the prominent places of attraction in Amritsar. The city view looks outstanding when you see from the top of this tower. Besides this, this is a nine storied building with great architectural work.
Durgiana temple: This is a popular Amritsar temple which is dedicated to Lord Durga. This temple located very close to the golden temple, thus you can easily access it within no time. This temple is built during the period of 16th century. The blessings of goddess Durga is truly powerful and fulfills all the wishes of her devotees.
Golden temple: This temple was built in the year 1604 by Guru Arjun Singh, but got damaged due to the Afghan invaders attack on Punjab. Later, Maharaja Ranjit Singh had rebuilt this by using gold foil, copper and marble in 19th century. During night temple the temple looks truly beautiful. It is also called as Darbar Sahib
Harike wetland: This is a great wildlife sanctuary in Punjab and is officially declared its existence in the year 1982. There are around 350 bird species here, and you will definitely get surprised on seeing them. Visiting this place along with your family and children will make some sweet memories in your life.
There are also some other places like Jalianwala Bagh, Ram tirath, Tarn taran, Wagah border etc in Amritsar.

Apparels: Amritsar is especially famous for fabrics. Decorative Salwar suits are must buy items for women. Thus, you could shop some dresses here to present your beloved or to yourself. The women accessories are also very much cheap in Amritsar especially in the markets nearer to Golden Temple.
Amritsari Juti: Amritsari Juti is very popular all across India because of its great look, material and the comfort it offers
Amritsari Pickle: Amritsari pickle is must to buy. The women of Punjab prepare these pickles in a unique manner to give an awesome taste which everyone likes.

Idols: You will also find various god idols and feng shui idols at a very low price here. Phulkari work on wood is quite popular here.
