In the year 1469, the Guru Nanak and other ten gurus founded the Sikhism. Sikhs are trying to follow the teaching and speeches of the Gurus. Guru Har Krishan Sahib is the eighth Guru among the eleven Sikh Gurus. Sikhs are celebrating the Guru Harkishan Jayanti. Guru Har Krishan is popularly known as ‘Bal Guru’ among the Sikhs. He attended the Guruship at the very young age. The Guru Harkishan Jayanti is celebrated on 23rd July of every year. Each and every year, during late July, the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib of Delhi holds a huge celebration. It was the place where Guruji stayed in the bungalow of Raja Rai Singh during the region of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

About Guru Harkishan

He is one of the youngest gurus of Sikhs. He became Guruji in the year 1661 and the date was 20th October. He always tries to follow the footstep of his father. And before he died, he nominated Baba Balakaji as the next Guru of the Sikhs. He was the granduncle of Guru Harkishan. When Guruji stayed in Delhi, the small pox spread as an epidemic at time. And, as a blessing the water of the lake Bangla Sahib cured many people at that time. Without thinking about himself, he helped many devotees and cure their diseases. He exposed himself towards his devotees and taken care of those people without any second thoughts. But he was attacked by this disease and died for this cause.

The Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was constructed in the memory of Guruji. Raja Jai Singh was a strong devotee of Sikh. Guruji stayed on his bungalow during his Delhi visit and died in that place. After that it is renovate and the Gurudwara was constructed. Now this place is one of the most lovable palaces for the Sikhs. They spend their time to get peace of mind.

This Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is now playing a major role to celebrate this auspicious occasion. They celebrate these days in a wide aspect. It is a special day for every Sikh. They celebrate this day with full of respect and love. They celebrate this day with proper care. It is the nice way to remember the love and care of Guruji towards his devotees. This July month is a very special time and they organize different thing to remember Guruji. It is a holy and auspicious occasion of Sikhs. They always celebrate it from the core of their heart.
