Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is one among the few who contributed a lot to India. 23rd January is celebrated as “Desh Prem Diwas” as Netaj Jayanti every year. Bose’s Life
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born in the year 1897 on 23rd of January, in Cuttack city of Orissa to Prabhavati Devi and Janakinath Bose. His father Janakinath Bose was among few successful lawyers of Cuttack who managed to receive the prestigious title of "Rai Bahadur". In later part he became a member of Bengal Legislative Council. Subhas was known to be an intelligent student. He never took interest towards sports. He completed his B.A. in subject Philosophy from the prestigious Presidency College of Calcutta. teachings of Swami Vivekananda influenced him strongly. He was popular for his zeal towards patriotism since his student life. For him Swami Vivekananda was his spiritual Guru.
Contributions of Netaji
He was an immense freedom fighter with pleasing personality. He founded the National Army. During pre-independence, he visited London to discuss the future of India in association with the members of Labor party. He was the founder of “Azad Hind Fauj” He planned to take serious revenge, when he read about many incidents leading to the exploitation by British on fellow Indians. Bose was an intelligent student. He was placed 4th rank in Indian Civil Service Examination. But his interest towards the freedom of movement was very intense. He left his home for becoming an active member for freedom movement of India. He joined the Indian National Congress. in later part he got elected as the party president.
Celebrations for Netaji’s Jayanti
The birth of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is celebrated as the Jayanti on 23rd January, every year. This festival is celebrated in a grand way to commemorate the legends contribution all over India. All local civic body and district administration also observed Netaji’s Jayanti. NGO’s organize Blood Donation Camp on this day. In many schools, students celebrate this festival by organizing lectures about the fighting spirit of this man. The schools, colleges and universities also arrange quiz competition, exhibition, sports, cultural activities, debates, streets programs, parades, and many more.
