The festival of Paripally Gajamela is held every year in the month of March. Gajamela literally means the festivals of elephants who participate this event in huge number. In these festivals, more than 50 elephants participate. It is believed that worshiping elephants is important. The festival is incomplete without the participation of elephants.
Celebrations in Paripally Gajamela
The Paripally Gajamela is observed and celebrated at the Paripally village located at 48km from the north of Trivandrum. This event is celebrated near to Sree Bhadrakaali temple. The procession of elephant starts on the 10th day from starting of the event. At this event, unique procession is observed. People of Paripally believe that worshipping elephants is very significant. Nercha is offered as the blessed rituals to the elephants. By offering rituals to the elephants, people believe that god is satisfied and all wishes made by devotees will come true.

Elephant Decoration in Paripally Gajamela
The people of Paripally comes together to decorated the Gaja i.e. elephant for this event. They beautifully decorate the head of the Gaja which is something unique and exceptional. They placed beautiful crown on the head of the elephant. Apart from these, they put garland on all elephants which is handmade. The uniqueness of the festival is something that you will mesmerize. An annual parade is arranged in which more than 50 elephants participate. The procession is done with exceptional rituals that are worth to see.
