Vaivasvata Saptami Vrat
Vivaswat Saptami also referred as Viwaswat Saptami, is a Hindu festival that is dedicated to Vivaswatha Manu (another name of Lord Surya). On this special occasion, the Lord Son made his first appearance on the chariot of 7 horses. Lord Sun (Surya) is the chief of the Navagraha (the 9 Classical planets) in astrology. Lord Sun (Surya) is also the presiding deity of Sunday.
According to Hindu calendar, Vivasvat Saptami comes in the Shukla Paksha of Ashadha (7th day during the waxing phase of moon). Vyvaswatha/ Vivasvat Saptami is the most auspicious day and it is also famous as Bhanu Saptami. ‘Bhanu’ means the Sun God. On this auspicious day people recite Aditya Hridayam and any other Surya Stotras, which makes Lord Sun (Surya Dev) happy and in return they keep devotees’ health fit forever.
Aditya Hridayam is a mantra dedicated in glorification of Surya Deva (Lord Sun- the illustrious lord of all victories). This divine hymn is part of Valmiki’s Yuddha Kanda and it contains 31 Slokas. It is believed Aditya Hridayam Slokas was read by Lord Ram before his battle with Ravan.
