Vrischika Sankranti is a sacred day that marks the beginning of the Sun’s transition from the Tula (Libra) Rashi to the Vruschika (Scorpio) Rashi. Vrischika Sankranti is also named as ‘Vruschika Sankramanam’. In Indian astrology, the Vruschika (Scorpio) Rashi occupies the 8th position. There are 12 Sankrati days in the year and each Sankranti day denotes the start of the new month in the Hindu calendar.

All 12 Sankrantis are considered favourable to do ancestral rituals (Shraddha and Tarpanam) and Donation (Daan-Punya) activities. Of these Vrischika Sankranti Festival is a highly auspicious day for Hindus in India. The word ‘San’ signifies ‘plenty’ and the word ‘Kranti’ indicates ‘radical change’. Hence the festival of twelve Sankranti is supposed to bring plenty of fortune and good changes in our life.
