An Overview of Mashobra
Mashobra is located in the district of Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is well linked with the capital Shimla through Hindustan-Tibet road constructed in 1850 by General Lord Dalhousie. It is a little hill station and it is charming. It has amazing scenery and good place for trekking. It is located in the road of Shimla-Naldehra. It is a good gateway to hills.

History of Mashobra
Mashobra is a part of Shimla. According to archeology, the Indus Valley civilization has witnessed this place. The area was captured by the Sankar Varma, the king of Kashmir. The territory was later ruled by Mughals. Then the Gorkhas ruled over this place. Then the British ruled here in the 18th century. In the year 1971, the Act of Himachal Pradesh declared that Mashobra was a town of the district Shimla. Mashobra was captured and ruled by King Sankar Varma of Kashmir, Mahmud Ghazni, Ranjit Singh, Mughals, Gorkhas, Amar Singh, British.

Tourist Spots in Mashobra
There are various tourist spots in Mashobra. They are as follows.

Kufri: Kufri is at an elevation of 2510m from the sea level and it is a beautiful hill station. It is at about 12km from Mashobra. The name has come from the word ‘Kufr’ which means ‘lake’. It is quite popular for the Nature park of Himalaya. We can watch felines, rare antelopes and birds. There is also Himalayan Monal which is considered as the state bird of the state of Himachal Pradesh. The park contains a coffee shop which is named Café Lalit and it is directed by the tourism board of Himalaya. Fagu, Chail and the Chini bungalow are popular attraction which is situated in Kufri.

Craignano : It is situated in the district of Shimla in the highway of Shimla-Naldhera. It is at an elevation of 7,700ft above the sea level. It has an Italian villa which was built by Chevalier Peliti. He gave the name after the town of Craignano in Italy. The villa is located on a huge hill and there are many small streams. It is constructed of wood. There are many trees like pine and oak trees. It comprises of night lamps, stone benches and spacious lawns etc. The place is famous for the highest lift of water. It is situated at an elevation of 7657ft from the sea level. This water lift was built by British and supply water to the areas of Shimla. The place is known for fishing, rock climbing and rappelling.

Wild Flower Hall: This place is located at distance of about 8km from Mashobra. It has an elevation of 2498m from the sea level. It is situated in town of Charabra and it serves like a hotel.

Reserve Forest Sanctuary: It is a part of the reserve forest sanctuary of Shimla. There are several plants like pine, cedar and oak etc. It has Indus River in its side. The trees are chestnut and maple trees. The animals are jackal, monkey, leopard and barking deer. The birds are patridge, chikor, and pheasant and Himalayan eagle. It is ideal for picnic, camping and trekking etc. You can view mountain of Pir Panjal which is situated in Jammu and Kashmir.
