![]() Exploring The Awe-Inspiring Natural Beauty Of Pahalgam Places of Tourist Interest in Pahalgam Mattan And Sun Temple: This prominent Hindu pilgrimage centre is located on the Pahalgam road and is renowned as the place where the priests and pundits came together to offer prayers to the Sun God. The beautiful village houses the famous Sun Temple, constructed during the time of Pandavas. The temple features a magnificent Shiv Lingam, situated inside an attractive brick structure and surrounded by clean sparkling water. In present times, the temple complex is a high security zone, guarded by the paramilitary force and people wanting to see it need to acquire special permission. Tulian Lake: Located at a height of about 3353 m, this lake lies at a distance of nearly 16 km from Pahalgam. The lake remains covered with snow most of the time and is situated amidst mountain peaks reaching up to 300 m in height. Tulian Lake is placed on a trekking route passing through Baisaran, and people can hire ponies from Pahalgam to reach it. Betaab Valley: This valley, which is located nearly 7 kms ahead from Pahalgam, is named after the super hit Bollywood movie Betaab, which was primarily shot here. The valley is set in beautiful surroundings, having mountain peaks covered with snow on one side and thick forests pine and deodar on the other. The valley is also renowned for being the mouth of River Sheshnag, which can be crossed with the help of a beautiful bridge constructed across it. Lidderwat: This magnificent camping site located in the middle of thick forests at a height of 3,048 m is a major tourist destination of Pahalgam. The site lies nearly 22 km away from Pahalgam and is also the commencement point of the trekking trail leading to Sindh Valley. Visitors can hire a taxi or opt for a pony ride to reach this place. Tarsar Lake: Located nearly 34km away from Pahalgam is the beautiful Tarsar Lake. Visitors can reach the lake travelling through Lidderwat and then crossing a hanging bridge situated at a height of 243 m from ground level. The Sikiwas valley, which is known for its magnificent camping sites and flower meadows, is situated just 24km ahead of this lake. Shikargah: The famous wildlife reserve of Shikargarh is located in the heart of Pahalgam, near the main market. It is a favorite picnic spot for families and can be explored either on foot or by hiring ponies available in the market area.
