Located around 12km away from Kaza, Ki Gompa is a breath taking attraction. Ki is actually a small village and the whitewashed Ki Gompa stands out here. It is mounted on a 4116m-high hillock and this is the largest of all the Gompas in the region. The panoramic view from the Ki Gompa is too amazing and each year thousands of photography enthusiasts make a visit here to click their master pieces. In the Gompa, almost 300 monks and their students live. The architecture, serene atmosphere and spiritual environment of this Gompa are outstanding and an important festival, Ki Chaam takes place here around June and July. In February or March Losar is celebrated here.
Dhankar Gompa:
Another architecture laurel and great place of religious importance is the Dhankar Monastery which is 1200-year-old monastery. This breathtaking monastery is wedged between the rocky spurs mounted on the village Dhankar of Spiti. The awe inspiring views from here are remarkable. Here you can check out the famous statue of Vajradhara made up of silver. There is a tranquil hall for prayers which is beautifully adorned with the paintings and colorful writings. The murals of Sakyamuni, Tsongkhapa and Lama Chodrag mounted here are lovely.
