![]() What is Chaughadiya?Chaughadiya is one of the systems to find the most auspicious time to do any important event or work.‘Choghadia’ is a Sanskrit name- ‘Cho’ + ‘Ghadia’. ‘Cho’ means 4 and ‘Ghadia’ means Ghati. Therefore, Chaughadiya means 4 Ghati. In olden times, Ghati is used instead of hours. If we compare both the systems, 60 Ghati are equivalent to 24 hours. Each Chaughadiya is consisted of 3.75 Ghati, which is approximately 4 Ghati. Hence, if we calculate the total Chaughadiya in a day, they are 16 in number. Hindu day starts with sunrise and ends with the sunrise next day. There are total eight Chaughadiya during day (sunrise to sunset) and again eight Chaughadiya during night (from sunset to sunrise). Chaughadiya falling in day part are day Choghadia and Chaughadiya falling between sunset to sunrise are night Chaughadiya. Classification of ChaughadiyaThere are total seven Chaughadiya In these seven Chaughadiya Shubh, Labh and Amrit are auspicious and Udveg, Rog and Kaal inauspicious Char is neutral. These are the Chaughadiya for day and night.
