 Akshaya Tritiya, also famous as Akha Teej, is an auspicious and holy day for Hindus and Jains. Alshaya Tritiya falls on the third tithi during Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha.It is considered to be a holy day to inaugurate new undertakings. Akshaya Tritiya 2016 falls on May 09. Importance of Akshaya Tritiya festival This special day is the brightest and luckiest days of Hindu Religion. Akha Teej is considered auspicious, if it falls on the Rohini Nakshatra day. Akha Teej and Parashurama Jayanti occur on the same day. Parshurama Jayanti is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Parashurama, who is considered as the 6th incarnation of God Vishnu. For Jains, Akshaya Tritiya observes the ending of a year fast by Trithankara Rishabha by taking the juice of Sugarcane. The word "Akshaya" means the never diminishing and the festival is believed to bring good fortune, prosperity, wealth and success. It is also believed that if one do charity on Akshaya Tritiya he/ she will be blessed. As per scriptures, the good effect of auspicious activities done on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya never gets finished, and you enjoy them for the lives to come.
