Significance of Republic Day
One of the major national festivals, Republic day is celebrated on 26th January and is a day of great importance and significance. Republic Day is celebrated in exciting and colourful ways. To celebrate this auspicious day in a grand and memorable way, each year in the city of New Delhi, the Indian capital, a special parade is conducted which starts right from Raisina Hill the neighbourhood of Rashtrapati Bhawan. The parade passes through the Rajpath ending in India Gate. The Indian President, Prime Minister along with high rank officials of India marks their presence on this special occasion at Rajpath.
The President hosts the National flag with the playing of National Anthem of India. President addresses the whole nation with the Republic Day speech. Aside to this, Republic Day parade includes lively colourful displays which exhibit India's colourful and rich culture. The parade concludes with the flypast by Indian Air Force jets. On this day, bravery awards are given to the people who have contributed their major to India. There are many local cultures are conducted that is primarily focused on the history and culture of India.
Public Life
On 26th January, Republic day is gazetted in India every year. The government, state and national offices, post offices, banks and most of the private institutions and offices are closed. Public transports are usually merged with traffic, as there are parades in every city. Most of the educational institutions organize various cultural activities and programs to mark this occasion a memorable one. This day reflects the journey of India independent from the British colonized. This day is pride and honour for all Indians as free birds from British.
