This is the Maha Mantra addressed to Lord Krishna and Lord Rama, both being incarnations (Avatars) of Lord Vishnu, The Supreme Lord, The Lord of all Lords, The Ultimate Lord and considered most important out of Hindu Trinity of Lord Brahma, the Creator; Lord Vishnu, The Sustainer and Lord Shiva, the Destroyer. Lord Vishnu is the author of this Universe. He is like the sky - all pervading, and above all.

This simple mantra with musical connotations has been popularized worldwide by ISKCON (International Society of Krishna Consciousness) founded by Shri A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Lord Krishna has made it clear in Bhagavat Gita that any God a person worships with devotion, he actually worships Lord Krishna (i.e. Lord Vishnu), but in a wrong way only. Thus is it is actually understood and realized by an enlightened person that one who worships Lord Krishna never requires to worship anyone else, and it is the direct prayer when the person prays to Lord Krishna. People who worship other Gods than Lord Krishna are less intelligent and has less spiritual understanding. Krishna assures that even when a mere flower is offered to him with love and devotion, he will accept it. People who will worship him will be blessed to live with him in the most blissful state and attain the highest possible goal of a soul.
